Ham Radio Information:
DHRA Meets every Thursday at 8:00 Check them out if you have a Ham Radio
Hello, fellow DHRA members, 4/12/2013
The 70cm DHRA repeater at the SunCrest firestation is up and running as of this afternoon, so please start using it and let us know how it works out for you. Alot of testing went on today. Set your radios to receive at 447.100-, with a tone of 100 hz, and transmit on 442.100. The station callsign is KC9APG. Martin Johnson, KB7VIB, Steve Decho, KE6FX, Ben Hunter, N7TOW, and Brad Watson of Draper City Public Works put in alot of hours and emails in the past two or three weeks, working out the logistics for the installation of the antenna and the repeater systems equipment. We will use this repeater frequency for the DHRA mock drill net Wednesday evening at 7pm transmitted from City Hall for the Great Utah Shakeout event, and 447.100 simplex will be the backup plan if we need it.
Just as a reminder — the net Wednesday evening will be a directed net with one specific ham already designated from to check in for each district. Each of these operators will have a pre-written script to report a fake damage assessment for their district. This pre-written script and district damage assessments are going through a last minute tweaking tomorrow morning, so I will be sending out the final final to those of you who are calling in, tomorrow afternoon or evening. I realize also that alot of the rest of you may be participating in your own district Great Utah Shakeout plans. But we welcome you to listen in if you can to this net Wednesday evening. You can also visit the Open House at City Hall with your families, also starting at 7pm that evening. There will be vendor displays in the foyer and in the City Council Chambers room. The City Council Chambers room is where the Draper EOC is set up for emergencies and that is were the net will be transmitted from. The DHRA will also have a presence with a table in the foyer with handouts, brochures and posters expounding the benefits of amateur radio communications in an emergency. Martin, KB7VIB, and Clark, KF7PUD, will be manning that table, and Steve, KE6FX and I will take turns being Net Control in the Draper EOC. Mavis, KF7QVR, will wear several hats helping us out in both places.
Kind regards,
Mary
KC9APG
